Smartlux Digital Magnifiers

One of the more unique products we sell is the Smartlux digital magnifier by Eschenbach; a revolutionary, portable video magnifying tool that comes bundled with a multitude of different features at an economical price.

Magnifiers are an invaluable tool for people who suffer from low vision; a condition that is generally caused by an underlying eye disease such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Magnifiers are useful particularly in situations where a person needs to be able to see something close-up; such as reading and writing, using a mobile phone or hobbies such as jigsaw puzzles, sewing and crossword puzzles.

The features of the Smartlux include:
5” LCD display
800 x 480 pixels high resolution screen
Backlit screen with an on/off toggle
Lightweight, weighs in at 220g
5x, 7x, 9x or 12x magnification
5 different viewing modes
Automatic shut-off after 5 minutes of inactivity
Can capture up to 20 images
Adjustable stand
Lanyard
Samsung rechargeable battery

The 5” high resolution LCD screen is hard-coated for protection against marks and scratches and has an additional anti-glare layer of film. Lightweight and portable at 220g, the Smartlux will easily fit in a handbag or pocket and can be used just about anywhere. It also comes with a lanyard, so you can keep it close at hand. Like a mobile phone, the Smartlux has a built-in rechargeable battery and can be used for an average time of 2 ½ hours from a single charge. The Smartlux also features an image capture feature and allows up to 20 to be stored on its internal memory to be referred to at a later date.

The Smartlux is an easy-to-use piece of tech, featuring only three large, tactile buttons – on/off, magnification setting and contrast mode – making it ideal for use by those who may not be particularly tech-savvy. It also features an automatic shut-off mode that will power the device off after 5 minutes of inactivity, allowing it to conserve battery power.

The five different viewing modes allow for personal choice or different settings for different light levels. These are: full colour, black on white, white on black, black on yellow and yellow on black. The backlit screen can also be turned off when viewing an already backlit screen such as a mobile phone or tablet. The adjustable stand can be changed to your preference and can be raised or lowered for either reading or writing. Folding the stand away, the Smartlux can also be used as a handheld magnifier, useful for reading information on packaging or viewing any non-flat objects.
